Both the new Captain America: Brave New World footage and images focus on an intriguing aspect of the movie that was never part of Chris Evans' MCU journey as Steve Rogers. That interesting story is how Sam, as Captain America, will be in directly with the US President. Ross even tells Sam that he wants him to restart the Avengers, and if the team is under government oversight, it would be against Steve's stance in Captain America: Civil War.

Chris Evans’ Rumored MCU Return Could Happen In 3 Exciting Ways

Chris Evans has been rumored to be making a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there are a few major ways how that could happen.

With the Captain America: Brave New World footage from CinemaCon featuring "Lots of close-quarter combat and various action shots," as well as Isaiah Bradley and other characters being used as sleeper agents, the movie seems to be evoking a Captain America: The Winter Soldier feel. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Mackie endorsed that sentiment. The actor said, "It made more sense for it to be more of a grounded espionage action movie as opposed to aliens and airplanes coming through portals and s---."

Mackie even called what Marvel is doing with the Captain America movie and new MCU entries a reset for the franchise, saying, "I think with these movies, you're getting a clear, new branding of what Marvel is headed towards the same way they did with Captain America: The Winter Soldier." The image of Captain America walking through a dark corridor in street clothes evokes that grounded feel. Cap's new suit, which is a darker blue instead of Sam Wilson's classic white suit, is another nod to The Winter Soldier, raising excitement for next year's Captain America: Brave New World.

How Sam Wilson's New Captain America Suit Is Different To The Falcon & The Winter Soldier

Captain America's New Suit May Be Tied To Black Panther 2's Vibranium Storyline

Sam Wilson has a new superhero suit in Captain America: Brave New World, and there could be both thematic and in-universe explanations for why Captain America chose to switch outfits. In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier finale, Sam became Captain America, donning his comic book-accurate white and blue costume. However, in his first MCU movie as a lead, the new Captain America will be sporting a very different look, with a more traditional dark blue Captain America suit.

The first possible explanation for Sam's new Captain America suit connects to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Sam's first Captain America costume was made for him by the Wakandans, with Vibranium wings and more. However, the latest Black Panther movie focused heavily on how world powers are trying to get Vibranium from the Wakandans by force. There are two possible paths for Sam's new suit coming in relation to Wakanda Forever, with the hero either ditching the suit out of respect for the Wakandans or having it confiscated by the US government due to the rare material it's made of.

Aside from the possible in-universe explanation, Sam Wilson's new Captain America costume could have been designed to fit in thematically with the film. As Mackie has said and the CinemaCon footage from Captain America: Brave New World revealed, the film will be a grounded action thriller in the vein of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. That film also had Chris Evans' Steve Rogers don a dark blue tactical Captain America suit, so Sam Wilson's costume change could be so that the hero fits in with the more grounded Captain America: Brave New World story.
