Warning: Contains spoilers for Boruto Chapter #71

A recently-introduced villain in Naruto, look completely meaningless. Daemon is a seemingly innocuous child who is actually a cyborg that, in the span of a couple of chapters, established himself as the most powerful character in the series, overshadowing even Naruto and Sasuke.

Boruto had a big issue with power levels since the beginning. The problem is that the manga still used characters, such as Naruto and Sasuke, who were established as the apex of the shinobi world after all the gruesome battles they won over the course of Naruto. Because Sasuke and Naruto were around, Boruto's villains had to be stronger than them to be a believable threat, which created a big power scaling issue. Things got worse after the introduction of the two most recent villains, Eida and Daemon, whose abilities are so overpowered that they make everyone else look bad. While Eida's strength resides in her unique power to make everyone fall in love with her, Daemon is simply strong, too strong to make sense.

In Boruto's chapter #71 by Masashi Kishimoto, Daemon starts a fight with Code, another recently-introduced villain who is the original vessel of Isshiki Otsutsuki, and recently got his true powers back. Daemon also has a crazy unique ability: he is able to reflect any attack back as long as he is touching the attacker with one hand. Code believed that he could win if he found a way to circumvent this ability (for example, not being touched), but Daemon quickly proved to be absolutely superior even without using his tricky power. He simply overpowered Code, smashing him into the ground, nearly killing him with ease.

The outcome of this battle is surprising because Code has been established to be stronger than Isshiki who, in turn, was a lot stronger than Sasuke and Naruto. This means that Daemon is leagues above the two protagonists of Naruto who, by the end of that manga, reached a quasi-divine status by becoming the reincarnations of the Sage of the Six Paths. While Isshiki and the other Otsutsuki's level of strength still made some sense (because they are a clan of godly aliens who devour entire planets), Daemon is just a cyborg created by Amado, a human scientist. This means that humans in the world of Naruto possess such advanced technology to create a weapon that is vastly superior to an alien god who spent centuries harvesting chakra from planets in an attempt to become the supreme being in the universe.

The villains have been the biggest issue for Boruto. The series' strong ties with Naruto meant that the antagonists had to be incredibly powerful from the beginning, which made beloved characters such as Naruto and Sasuke look bad. The introduction of the new cyborgs, Eida and Daemon, creates even more problems because they are simply too strong to be mere products of technology. What is the point of the long and gruesome training that shinobis go through to acquire greater strength if someone can simply create such overpowered creatures? Daemon's absurd strength in Boruto proves that the power levels established in Naruto no longer make any sense.
