With a current 88% audience score on DC League of Super Pets uses comedy, animation, fun takes on old characters, and a stellar animation style to prove that there are thousands more stories to be told about the DC superhero stories, and infinite ways left to tell them.

Watching a brand-new movie unlike any other often provokes the desire to watch another with similar aspects. From humor to content to themes, there are absolutely enough animated movies in the world to tide fans over until a sequel to DC League of Super-Pets is (hopefully) announced.

Over the Hedge

Animals running across the roof of a car with stolen food in Over the Hedge.

Over the Hedge was released in 2006 and starred Bruce Willis, Steve Carell, Wanda Sykes, and many other very familiar names. The story was that of a shifty raccoon named RJ who exploits a group of small forest animals to help him out in stealing food from humans in order to help him pay off a debt.

Throughout the story, each character goes through their own individual arc, and the movie is just as entertaining for adults as it is for the kids drawn to the cute cartoon animals. With themes, morals, and a heart incredibly reminiscent of that in DC League of Super-Pets, Over the Hedge is a great choice of chaser for the new movie.

Puss in Boots

2011's Shrek franchise, much of its backstory derives from classic fairy tales, and like DC League of Super-Pets, it manages to heavily and successfully expand on its source material in all the best ways.

With the sequel about to establish a whole new animation style in line with The Bad Guys and Super-Pets as well as comedy and characters enjoyable by any viewers of any age, Puss in Boots is without a doubt a fun, enjoyable, and incredibly well-timed addition to the animal animation watch list.

Rio

Rio

Though Blue Sky Studios, unfortunately, shut down amidst a drop in ratings from a COVID-19 movie release, the Rio stands as a fun and delightful testament to the love owners feel toward their pets and the care that goes into upholding and protecting endangered species of animals.

In conjunction with its sequel, the Rio movies managed to near $1 billion at the box office, and the series now has a third movie in the works with Disney. It's a wonderful, fun watch worth sitting down and dedicating an hour and a half two any time, post-Super-Pets viewing or otherwise.

The Nut Job

The-Nut-Job

The Nut Job manages to have a very similar sense of comedy compared to DC League of Super-Pets, and a couple of similar character designs, possibly causing the viewers to want to give it a good rewatch before the movie's even over. But without disrupting the flow of Super-Pets, if looking for a good warm-up or cool-down to the new movie, 2014's The Nut Job definitely works in conjunction with it.

A fun children's movie, this film is nothing if not a staple and a relic from a decade of animated anthropomorphic adventures. Though met with mixed reviews, it did receive a sequel three years after its release, as well as it left a pretty distinct mark in the minds of all those who watched its initial release.

Zootopia

Judy and Nick in Zootopia

Zootopia proved pretty hard to miss when it was released in theaters back in 2016. The incredible cast included names like Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Batman, Idris Elba, Jenny Slate, and J.K. Simmons, and established an animated world unlike any other.

The movie is essentially a buddy-cop film with anthropomorphic animals, but has shined through for years as an incredible distinction from any movie made prior to or since. That said, it undoubtedly falls in line with the Super-Pets comedy, character types, storytelling, and dialogue strength.

Penguins of Madagascar

Penguins of Madagascar, a prequel to the three preceding films in the Madagascar franchise, tells a version of the origin stories of the much beloved avian quartet from the original movies. It follows Skipper, Kowalski, Rico, and Private as penguin chicks in the antarctic and through their own sci-fi adventure story, complete with outrageous mishaps and a fun, scheming villain.

The movie is not to be confused with the television show of nearly the same name, and featured solid dialogue and a hurricane of jokes. Though it may have been the lowest-rated film of the franchise, Penguins of Madagascar was enjoyed by many, spawning dozens of internet memes and reinvigorating many's love for the series.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Within the same realm of classic superheroes from a brand new animated perspective comes the 2018 instant classic, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The film immediately had a chokehold on the box office numbers the moment it was released and very quickly became accepted as a vital addition to Spider-Man lore.

For another rapid-fire comedy about good and evil,DreamWorks animated classic, is about a bad guy gone good, superheroes, and surprising villains. The film was released in 2010 and has only increased in popularity with each ing year.

The titular character Megamind and his sidekick, Minion, are an unmatched comedy duo by all s. While the movie is worth a watch no matter what, if one finds themself enjoying the scenes between the captured DC superheroes, it is no doubt that this film will find a way into the exact same category through heart and mind.

The LEGO Batman Movie

Another unique take on a DC superhero, The LEGO Batman Movie did spectacularly at the box office and was a smash hit with fans of previous LEGO movies and Batman fanatics alike. With a very similar style of humor and the obvious overlap of the Batman character, these two movies can absolutely be paired together on a DC animation binge.

The LEGO Batman Movie delivered both the charm and the level of entertainment for adults and children alike that DC League of Super-Pets also manages to elicit.
