Chef Lawrence Snowden got off to a rough start during the season 12 premiere, Chef Lawrence realized he was in over his head even before the guests showed up. He had a hard time handling the provisions, he didn't like that cameras were filming his every move, and he got frustrated when the guests had issues with the food.

Chef Lawrence Snowden reveals big news to Captain Kerry in a new Below Deck season 12 preview clip.

Bravo released a preview clip from the next episode of Below Deck season 12. Right off the bat, Chef Lawrence tells Captain Kerry Titheradge that once the current charter is over, he's quitting. Kerry acknowledges that his role is a "high-stress job" and he's not familiar with this particular type of chef position. The captain knows Lawrence can do the job, and he believes that the chef can excel once these initial bumps are behind him. Lawrence just needs to "pull up his big boy pants," according to Kerry.

However, Lawrence won't hear what Kerry has to say and bluntly tells the captain that he's out of there once the current charter guests have finished their trip; he's giving the captain the courtesy of enough advanced notice so that Kerry can find a replacement. Speaking of which, later on in the preview clip, Captain Kerry and Chief Stew Fraser Olender meet up to discuss Chef Lawrence's curveball. Kerry is done trying to convince Lawrence to stay.

Fraser suggests bringing back Anthony Iracane. While Kerry loves the idea, he's not sold on it yet because Anthony's "mental state wasn't good. We had to let him go." After Fraser assures the captain that the former Below Deck cast member's confidence is at an all-time high now, the clip ends with Kerry giving Fraser the go-ahead to call Anthony.

Will Chef Anthony Be An Improvement?

It's clear that Chef Lawrence should not have ed Below Deck. Maybe he excels at his job off-camera, but Below Deck is a completely different beast than he's used to, and not everyone can handle that pressure. If Captain Kerry had somehow convinced Lawrence to stay, it likely would have resulted in one of the worst burnouts the franchise has ever seen. Lawrence did the right thing by giving his notice to the captain.

Our Take On Chef Lawrence Quitting Below Deck Amid High Stress

Captain Kerry Needs A Chef He Can Trust

Based on what we saw during the premiere, there was no way Chef Lawrence was going to survive the entire season; he would have either quit or been fired. It is surprising, though, that his exit is happening so soon in the season. However, it's for the best because Kerry needs a chef who can handle the pressures of the job and won't cause turmoil throughout the charter season. Considering the captain fired Anthony last season, it'll be interesting to see if he can survive an entire season or if Kerry will have to search for yet another replacement.
