The next major comic book crossover will see Deadpool and Batman share the page. Marvel and DC Comics have officially confirmed that they are ing forces for the first time in years to bring readers Deadpool/Batman, written by Grant Morrison and Zeb Wells, with art by Dan Mora and Greg Capullo. The comic is slated for release on September 17.
In the meantime, fans are free to speculate about what Marvel and DC might include in the highly anticipated clash between Batman and Deadpool. The two heroes couldn’t be more different; one is a cool, calculated detective with a strict no-kill rule, while the other is an unhinged assassin who, despite being smarter than he lets on, thrives in chaos. Their polarizing personalities make the prospect of a team-up all the more fascinating, especially if certain elements come into play.
8 Deadpool vs. Joker: The Clown-Off We All Desperately Need
Joker May Find His Match in Wade Wilson
In the Marvel Universe, readers will be hard-pressed to find a character crazier than Deadpool, but when merging with the DC Universe, the Joker might give Wade Wilson a run for his money. Then again, there is an even greater chance that Deadpool might outdo the Joker. Historically, Joker loves tormenting Batman because he's so stoic and, for the most part, sane. Deadpool, meanwhile, is notoriously insane and far from being a stoic individual.

10 Times The Joker Somehow Regained His Sanity
The Joker is notoriously insane, which is what makes him such a great villain, but there are also moments where he regains his sanity - like these 10!
The Joker usually can’t stand when someone matches his level of snark and sarcasm. Deadpool doesn’t just match it; he takes it to another level. He is a walking chaos engine who can't be rattled, no matter how deranged things get. Unlike most of Joker’s enemies, Deadpool fires back with sharper insults and even more unpredictable behavior. That is what would make a clash between them so exciting. If anyone in comics can out-crazy the Clown Prince of Crime, it is the Merc with a Mouth.
7 Deadpool Hitting on Nightwing Is a MUST
Deadpool Could Give Dick Grayon's Assets the Appreciation They Deserve
Nightwing, canonically, is hot. That's not just an opinion shared among readers and characters in-universe, but Dick Grayson's famous butt is a legitimate tactical weakness. It's hard for anyone, regardless of hero or villain allegiances, to resist the charm of Dick Grayson. Most likely, Deadpool will be no different. After all, Deadpool is openly bisexual in the Marvel Universe, and when these two worlds collide, there’s a good chance he’ll take immediate notice of Dick’s charm, and his famously well-defined butt.
Nightwing’s notably thick derrière has been a standout feature in comic art for over a decade, sparking ongoing discourse across social media. While some fans have debated whether the plump portrayals have gone too far, Deadpool may finally be the perfect character to weigh in.

It’s Official: Nightwing’s Character Design Is Getting Absurd, Has DC Gone Too Far?
Nightwing's widespread appeal means that every new story carries the weight of fan expectations, including the way he’s visually represented.
6 Deadpool Meeting His DC Counterpart Red Tool Could Be Comic Gold
But Let's Not Forget that Deadpool Is Also a Parody of Deathstroke
When readers think of Deadpool’s DC equivalent, Deathstroke is usually the first name that comes to mind, and for good reason. While that comparison is certainly worth discussing, there is another DC character who the Merc with a Mouth explicitly inspired: Red Tool. Red Tool is DC’s not-so-secret parody of the character. From his over-the-top personality to his alliterative name, Wayne Wilkins is clearly a stand-in for Wade Wilson. Although his chaotic adventures with Harley Quinn have ended, Red Tool is still very much alive in the DC Universe and waiting for the perfect moment to return.
Wayne Wilkins' first appearance arrives in Harley Quinn #3 by Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti, Chad Hardin, Alex Sinclair, and John J. Hill.
This new collaboration between DC Comics and Marvel creates the perfect opportunity for Red Tool to make a comeback, even if just for a brief cameo where he locks eyes with Deadpool. And if not a full-on face-off, a scene where a character mistakes Deadpool for Red Tool because of their similar costumes would be hilarious.
5 DC Has the Perfect Opportunity to Call Deadpool Out for Ripping off Deathstroke
It's Time to Talk About the Elephant in the Room
Deadpool has always been viewed as a ripoff of Deathstroke based on how similar the two sword-wielding hitmen are to each other, especially in costume. Deadpool's creator Rob Liefeld has pushed back against claims of stealing from Deathstroke, instead saying he took inspiration from G.I. Joe's Snake Eyes. Still, their similarities in both character and appearance are enough that it’s hard to talk about one without mentioning the other. It has become an elephant in the room, to the point where even characters in their respective universes acknowledge it.

Even Other Marvel Characters it Deadpool is a Deathstroke Rip-Off
In a conversation with Sabretooth, the Marvel villain itted that Deadpool is a rip-off of Deathstroke, referencing Slade by name in his comparison.
If there was ever a time to address theories and concerns about the matter from fans, it is now, during this crossover. This would be the first and perhaps only opportunity that either Marvel or DC has to bring both characters together in the same room and actually address the elephant that has been nagging everyone for years.
4 Please Let Deadpool Tear Batman v. Superman Apart in Front of The Dark Knight
It's True: Deadpool Has Already Mocked Batman v. Superman in the Marvel Universe
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is one of the more critically panned superhero movies to ever find its way into cinemas. While the movie and the overall Zack Snyder-led franchise have produced a cult following, initial reactions upon the movie's release were mixed. One of the most consistent critics of Batman v. Superman has been Deadpool. The hitman gives his review of Batman v Superman in Spider-Man/Deadpool #6 by Scott Aukerman, Reilly Brown, and Ed McGuinness.
Spider-Man and Deadpool go to see a big-screen adaptation of Nighthawk v. Hyperion, Marvel's two stand-ins for DC's World's Finest. They deliver criticisms of the movie that are suspiciously similar to common gripes from reviewers of Batman v. Superman. Now that Deadpool gets to meet one-half of the DC duo, he has the chance to be all the more specific and scathing about the actual 2016 movie.
3 Deadpool Joking About "Martha" Is a Perfect Dark Humor Opportunity
Deadpool Versus The Punisher #5 Already Made Fun of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice's "Martha" Scene
One of the most lauded criticisms of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice has been the divisive "Martha" scene in which Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent are embroiled in a violent joust until the former learns that the latter's mother shares the same name as his. During a similarly brutal battle with Frank Castle, Wade mistakes The Punisher's attempt at vulgar language as an ission of a shared mother connection. Frank isn't sure if Deadpool is joking, but it gives his opponent an opportunity to profess their supposed shared human connection, which is exactly how the movie plays out.

Batman Must Made the Waynes' Deaths Even More Tragic With Help From Bruce's Mom
New developments in Absolute Batman #2 clarify Bruce’s relationship with his mother in this universe, and reveal a sad truth about the hero’s nature.
If Deadpool is destined to make a joke about Batman v. Superman to Bruce's face, he might want to reconsider making a joke about his mother. Batman's likely to cave Deadpool's face in at the first utterance of a derogatory "Martha" line. That's one joke Bruce won't take too kindly.
2 Batman / Deadpool Is the Perfect Opportunity for the Duo to Compare Gadgets
Batman's Hi-Tech Gear vs. Deadpool's Gonzo Arsenal
Both Deadpool and Batman are known for having extensive arsenals of weapons and gadgets. Deadpool’s collection is notably more lethal than Batman’s, including blunt instruments, sharp weapons, and guns of various ranges. He also possesses unexpected tech like teleportation devices and hologram projectors. On the other hand, Batman adopts a non-lethal approach that aligns with his code. His gadgets often focus on transportation, such as the Batmobile, other vehicles, and grappling hooks, along with the most advanced neutralizing tools that billionaire resources can provide.

Batman's 'No Kill' Rule May Be Controversial, But It Isn't Going Anywhere Anytime Soon
Batman's refusal to kill any of his villains tends to stir up controversy among fans. However, despite criticism, his no-kill rule is here to stay.
While both heroes might ire each other’s gear, there is certainly room for judgment on both sides. Batman’s no-kill rule is firm and will not change, even in a team-up. He will likely disapprove of how dangerous Deadpool’s weapons are. Meanwhile, Deadpool might find Batman’s non-lethal tactics disappointing.
1 Move Over, Damian Wayne: It's Deadpool's Turn to Audition for Robin
Just as Wade Did with the X-Men, Deadpool's Audition Could Come with a New Costume
While their opposing views on killing could create tension between Deadpool and Batman, there is still plenty about the Dark Knight that Wade would ire. He is likely to be drawn to Batman’s cool, commanding presence and might even want to become his next sidekick. At the moment, Bruce already has a family of sidekicks, with Tim Drake and Damian Wayne both playing Robin. Seeing multiple Robins in action might give Deadpool the idea that there is room for one more.
Readers have seen Deadpool audition for the X-Men before, and when he did, Deadpool came in with his own X-Men costume. The sight of Wade rocking a Robin costume would certainly be a sight to behold, both for its humor and for giving the crossover a special touch exclusive to this new story. Deadpool/Batman is bound to be a must-read.
