Chapter 7 of Batman: The Enemy Within Episode 1: The Enigma takes place entirely in Wayne Manor for the second time in this episode. This chapter is pretty much all dialogue, but it does set up the final chapter and other episodes. Also, the end of the chapter will pose a question to the player that will have a huge impact on the last chapter.

This chapter follows Bruce and Alfred's preparation before they confront Riddler. Players will also see the impact of Lucius's death on Alfred. While some of the choices the player can make are not that important, it develops these characters well. During the preparation, players will need to replay Lucius's death video and match voice signals to stop Riddler. Additionally, at the end of the chapter, players will have to decide which lead to follow. This decision will determine how the final chapter is played. This guide will show which lead to take and how to strengthen Bruce's relationship with Alfred.

Chapter 7: Wayne Manor II

Batman Mori or Eli

Chapter 7 starts in Wayne Manor with a conversation between Bruce and Alfred. Alfred shows his concern about the information that Gordon learns in the previous episode: that Lucius Fox worked with Batman. The player can respond:

  • You worry too much.
  • I think you’re right.
  • I couldn’t lie.

This doesn’t matter too much, but players should show their for Lucius and Gordon. The conversation continues and asks Bruce if he knows any more information about Lucius’s death. Batman shows him the homing missile from Riddler’s base and starts a holographic presentation on what he knows. Then Alfred mourns the loss of one of their family as Lucius is only one of three people who knew who Batman really was. The player can respond:

  • We’ll need to recruit.
  • We can’t despair.
  • I still have you.

This option doesn’t matter too much either, but Alfred is a part of the family so it’s suggested that players go with the third option. Afterward, Batman discovers that Riddler has the location of the agents because the Riddler hacked all of their phones. He then realizes that Riddler can target any of them through the signal he used to hack the phones. Alfred asks Bruce if he can somehow block the signals, and Bruce responds that he can if he can figure out how the signal is being broadcasted in the first place.

Bruce goes to his computer and tells Alfred that it’s going to be tough to watch because the only way to find the signal is by rewatching Lucius’s video call at the time of his death. Alfred says he can handle it, and the player can respond:

  • You’re indestructible, Alfred.
  • I don’t want you to see this.
  • Let’s get it over with then.

All of these options lead to Alfred getting uncomfortable and leaving to get them some tea, but the second option will lead to this moment the quickest. The player will then need to match the waveforms from the audio samples to find the signal.

Once the player completes this, Bruce will get a message from John Doe (Joker). John keeps his word and tells Bruce that Rumi Mori is a lead that he should follow. The player can text back:

  • Why Mori?
  • Great work, John.
  • I’ll check it out.

This option isn’t too impactful, but the second choice will continue the story the fastest. After Bruce texts back, he goes back to the computer to gather data on Mori and Eli, Riddler’s right-hand man. The two discuss which lead they should pursue, and as this point, the story will diverge in two different paths:

  • Rumi Mori
  • Eli Knable

Following the Mori will lead to the “best” ending, so players should do that. Once the player makes their decision, the penultimate chapter will end. It’s now time to move onto the finale.
