Chapter 6 of Batman: The Enemy Within Episode 1: The Enigma takes place in the East End of Gotham City. This chapter has a lot of problem solving and deduction that the Batman franchise is known for. Unlike the other chapters of the episode, this one doesn't have too much dialogue that players can decide. Instead, players will have to solve riddles, deduce past events, and investigate a crime scene.

Batman and Commissioner Gordon will continue their search for Riddler and go to the East End. This is where the find Riddler's lair. Players will need to navigate it carefully because there are serious repercussions if players are not deliberate in their approach to certain puzzles. The information that Batman gathers during this chapter will be used heavily in the next two, so players should not leave any stone unturned. With this guide, players will be able to breeze through this chapter without any negative events happening.

Chapter 6: East End

Batman and Commissioner Gordon

The chapter begins with Batman and Commissioner Gordon entering a water tower in the East End. Players will be able to move around the area, but eventually, they will be forced to move down the stairs. Now that the player is downstairs, they will need to examine everything in the room. The following things they need to look at it are: the entire dead body, safes, cell phone, monkey statues, blades, walls, torture booth, Riddler’s computer, body cam, and death chamber.

Once players examine the entire room, Gordon will suggest checking Riddler’s own computer to collect data. The data will then show that Mori was conspiring with Riddler, and that the Riddler has all of the info on Waller’s agents. Then, players will need to link some of the clues together.

Link the shoe on the floor with the death chamber, and then Batman will go through everything that happened to the agent.

Once the player links everything together, Batman will get into the booth himself since the bat-suit is heat resistant. Gordon will contest Batman’s idea, to which the player can respond:

  • Would you rather go in?
  • I’ll need your help.
  • I won’t fail.

This will shut Gordon up the fastest. Batman will enter the booth, and now players will need to solve Riddler’s puzzle. The puzzle says: “One won’t see trouble, and one tells no lies. Ask the third if he hides the prize.”

The puzzle is referring to the monkey statues, which makes the answer: “See no evil”. That means when Batman eventually gets out of the booth, the player will need to open the safe that has the face with no ears. After the correct safe is opened, then the doors will be opened, and Batman will find a homing missile inside. He examines it and realizes that that is what killed Lucius. Afterward, Riddler will appear on the TV and speak to Batman and Gordon. The player can then respond:

  • I’m closing in on you.
  • Give up before it’s too late
  • Haven’t you killed enough?

This option doesn’t matter too much. Riddler then criticizes Batman for working with the Agency. The player has the options:

  • Whatever it takes to stop you.
  • They’re not my friends.
  • You’re a worse enemy.

Again, this option isn’t too impactful. The conversation continues, and Riddler continues speaking poorly about the Agency, to which the player can say:

  • You’re still responsible.
  • I don’t feel sorry for you.
  • You can’t manipulate me.

The answer here doesn't matter too much. No matter the choice, Riddler then goes on and reveals to Gordon that Lucius Fox was a friend of Batman and that Batman was responsible for his death. Batman can then respond:

  • I don’t sacrifice lives!
  • Don’t put your crimes on me.
  • You’ll pay for Lucius’s death!

These options don’t matter too much, so players can pick any one. Then Riddler goes on a rant and ends the conversation with a challenge. Then Batman and Gordon go outside to regroup. Gordon asks about Batman’s relationship with Lucius:

  • [Lie] Riddler was lying
  • I worked with him.
  • I can’t tell you.

Gordon is an important ally, so the second option is the best. Gordon continues on, asks about the trust between them, and wants to know what to do with this information:

  • This stays between us.
  • It’s hard to talk about.
  • It’s your decision.

The third option is the best as it gives power and trust to Gordon. He will apologize and give condolences to Batman. After the conversation, the two go their separate ways to conclude the sixth chapter.
