About John Orquiola

John Orquiola is the head of Screen Rant's Star Trek Movies & TV coverage, a Senior Features staff writer, and Interviewer.

Author Details

John graduated from New York Fim Academy and began as a director’s assistant on various independent films. As a lover of film and film theory, John wrote humorous movie reviews on his blog, Back of the Head, which got him noticed by Screen Rant. John happily became the Star Trek guy at Screen Rant and he leads Feature coverage of the various Star Trek series.

Industry Focus

John began to parlay his Star Trek knowledge at Screen Rant upon the debut of Star Trek: Discovery in 2017. John spearheaded the growth of Star Trek into a core beat at Screen Rant, and he began interviewing Star Trek talent and creatives in 2020. In addition to leading Screen Rant's coverage of Star Trek movies and TV, John also attends in-person events like red carpet premieres and Star Trek Day.

Favorite Media

Beyond Star Trek, John has written about a wide range of his interests at Screen Rant including the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, James Bond, Rocky, Jack Ryan, and Cobra Kai. His other great nerdy love is British TV series like The Crown, Downton Abbey, Sanditon, and Killing Eve. A lifelong wrestling fan, John is especially proud of brokering a working relationship between Screen Rant and All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
John can be found on Twitter @BackoftheHead if you want to see photos of the food he eats.
