Marina Marcondes de Barros and Deckhand Nicolas Cattelan has been slowly simmering since Nic replaced Johnny on the Katina superyacht. Marina had originally been interested in Bosun Wihan Du Toit, but after he and Johnny were fired, and Nic came aboard, Marina only had eyes for him.

Shy Nic had the hard-working Marina smitten from day one.

Knowing that most of Below Deck's "boatmances" never make it off the dock, Marina and Nic have fans rooting for them since they seem awkwardly compatible with each other. Although most of the season was centered on major issues like Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph's feud with Chief Stew Lara Rigby, and all of the Wihan drama, Nic and Marina quietly formed a bond that seemed like it might have a chance to make it to land. Now that Below Deck Down Under season 3 has ended, let's see if Nic and Marina are still dating.

Wihan caused a storm of trouble while he was working as bosun on Below Deck Down Under season 3. He not only neglected his professional duties, but he had romantic interests in just about every woman on the boat. It created chaos in the department, since Wihan flirted with Tzarina, Marina, and then Adair Werley before he was unceremoniously fired.

Marina asked Wihan out herself in the early episodes of the season. Wihan, flattered by all the female attention he was getting, gamely went with her to a bar on shore where they shared a kiss. Alas, Wihan decided he was actually in love with his deckhand, Adair, and broke up with both Marina and Tzarina. Marina seemed to be getting the short end of the stick this season, rejected by Wihan and relegated to doing laundry when what she really wanted to do was serve the guests and be more on the front lines.

Nic And Marina Bonded Over Nerdy Things

After Captain Jason Chambers let Wihan go, Marina was enjoying her time on the boat, single and happy. She made friends and even endeared herself to Captain Jason, despite angering him a few times with her blunt remarks. When Nic came aboard to replace Johnny, who had also been fired, there seemed to be an instant attraction between the two, with Nic saying that Marina was "adorable" and Marina saying that she "loved" the fact that Nic was a self-described "nerd."

Before long, the two were canoodling in the hallways of the ship, and even snuck a few kisses during a crew night out at a club.

Nic, who said he always struggled with women, and Marina, who doesn't have a problem going after what she wants, were a cute couple and they bonded over their shared "nerd-dom." Nic probably wouldn't have made a move on Marina, so it was up to her to make it happen. Luckily for Nic, Marina had no problem taking charge.

Because Nic came onto the boat mid-season, Marina and Nic didn't have as much time to explore their relationship. Marina made it clear she wanted to see Nic after the season ended, and dropped hints about wanting to visit his hometown in South Africa together. Nic seemed a little slow to pick up on Marina's hints, but Marina confessed that she wanted to "spend time with him" after the season ended. She didn't want to come across as too forward, but luckily, Nic got the hint and agreed to accompany her to South Africa for a trip.

Marina said meeting Nic was like a "fairy tale," and the two lovebirds departed the Katina hand-in-hand. Since the season most likely stopped filming in early 2024, and there won't be a reunion, whether Nic and Marina stayed together isn't discussed anymore. Still, Nic seemingly confirmed that the two are still seeing each other by posting a photo of the two of them together on May 21 with the caption, "Always what the real treasure is." Marina commented a heart eyes emoji and a heart, so as far as we know, these two look like they are still together.
