What Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom's Netflix Success Means

Although the Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom movie didn't have a memorable box office outcome, seeing the DCEU's final installment become a Netflix success benefits Warner Bros. Discovery. Despite Aquaman's sequel not being a hit during its theatrical run, there is still a huge audience for Momoa, who is having a good run in 2025. His film, A Minecraft Movie, has made $948 million at the worldwide box office, making it the second highest-grossing movie of the year so far. Even if those audience didn't catch Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom in 2023, anyone who enjoyed Momoa in A Minecraft Movie may be looking for more content featuring the DCEU veteran.

However, even with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom's Netflix outcome, this doesn't mean that Aquaman 3 is going to happen. Not only is the DCEU over, but Momoa is starting a new superhero chapter in his career, as the Game of Thrones star is set to appear in James Gunn's DC Universe as Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. But just because Momoa's Aquaman era is over, it doesn't mean fans can't continue to enjoy his work, which is why platforms like Netflix are a great benefit for a movie like Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to get more exposure.
