Anime Japan took place this year on March 22nd through 25th of 2025, and included major reveals from some of anime's most massive franchises. Shows like Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece, and My Hero Academia received updates, but one animation studio, Studio Pierrot, was surprisingly silent.

Unfortunately for fans, although Studio Pierrot had promised an update on some of its largest properties at the event. However, no announcement was made, leaving fans puzzled by the studio's silence.

Studio Pierrot Surprised Attendees by Not Announcing Anything at Anime Japan

Its Biggest Franchises Like Naruto, Boruto, and Black Clover Are Still on Hiatus, With No Signs of Returning Soon

Studio Pierrot is the animation studio behind numerous major anime series, including Naruto, Bleach, Black Clover, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Akatsuki no Yona, to name just a few. Since Studio Pierrot is such a massive, established studio, fans were absolutely delighted to learn that the studio was planning to update viewers on its planned spring releases at Anime Japan's event. Although Studio Pierrot had promised an announcement, nothing was ever officially revealed, leaving viewers wondering what to expect next from the animation's franchises, many of which are on hiatus and have been for quite a while.

Anime Japan's website confirmed that Studio Pierrot would release information that weekend, but no release dates or announcements followed, unfortunately. To make matters worse, fans are already frustrated with Studio Pierrot's recent delays involving the shonen series, Naruto. Initially, Naruto was slated to debut new episodes in September 2023, but because of the studio's busyness with other projects, those new installments in the franchise have still not been released. Since the new episodes were announced, over two years have ed, and the studio has not yet offered an update or explanation as to why this has occurred.

Many anime lovers were expecting Black Clover to appear at Anime Japan, but sadly, no new information was given about either show. Since fans have been waiting for new episodes of both of these series for years, the lack of an update was understandably disappointing. Hopefully, all three of these series will be referenced at Jump Festa or another event later in 2025, and perhaps Studio Pierrot is waiting for the perfect time to announce pivotal information regarding three of its most successful anime series of all time. Since the studio has been preoccupied working on Bleach, the delay is understandable.
