When Breanna Nix first auditioned for American Idol season 23, I didn't know if she could make it to the finale, but, now that she has, I've changed my mind, and I think that she can win the whole competition. Breanna, a 25-year-old stay-at-home mom from Denton, Texas, wowed the judges--Lionel Richie, Carrie Underwood, and Luke Bryan--when she auditioned with Carrie's song, "Jesus, Take the Wheel," and they all voted yes for her to receive a golden ticket to Hollywood. Since then, she's become a fan favorite, and now she's made it to the Top 3 along with Jamal Roberts and John Foster.
When Breanna advanced to the American Idol season 23 Top 5, she was the last woman standing. I was shocked when Slater Nalley and Thunderstorm Artis didn't make it into the Top 3, but, when I looked at Breanna, Jamal, and John standing together, I knew that America had chosen right. Here's why I now believe that Breanna will win American Idol season 23.
American Idol Season 23 Top 3 Finalist Breanna Nix Has A Phenomenal Voice
Breanna Can Sing Anything
I'm always impressed by Breanna's performances, and I enjoy watching her put her own spin on classic songs. After her audition with Carrie's "Jesus, Take the Wheel," she stunned the judges during every round of Hollywood Week, including the Idol Arena, during which she sang "You Say" by Lauren Daigle, Showstoppers, when she took on "The Trouble With Love Is" by Kelly Clarkson," and her Head-to-Head duet with fellow contestant Rylie O'Neal, during which they performed "Gratitude" by Brandon Lake.
During the Top 24 performances in Hawaii Week, Breanna sang another Lauren Daigle song, "Still Rolling Stones." The following week, she advanced into the Top 20 with her rendition of "Up to the Mountain" by Patty Griffin. However, I was impressed when she completely changed it up and sang Queen's "The Show Must Go On" for her celebration song, which showcased her powerhouse vocals. For her Top 14 song, she again successfully switched genres and sang Journey's classic ballad, "Open Arms." Breanna followed that with her Top 12 performance of "Tell Your Heart to Beat Again" by Danny Gokey.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now
Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.
Breanna then took on two amazing female singers' tunes with her performances of "Water Under the Bridge" by Adele (Top 10), and "Independence Day" by Martina McBride (Top 8), and I was delighted to see that she could hold her own singing their songs. During the Top 8, she also sang a duet of Carrie's "Something in the Water" with Mattie Pruitt, which made them both shine. In the Top 7, Breanna sang "Reflection" from Mulan for her Disney song and "Like My Mother Does" by Lauren Alaina for her Mother's Day song, both of which showed her emotional range and were very touching.
Breanna earned her spot in the American Idol season 23 finale with her sensational Disney Heroes & Villains Night performances of "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)" from The Parent Trap and "You'll be in My Heart" from Tarzan when she competed in the Top 5. I was happy to see her choose both an upbeat song and a ballad on that night because it showed her versatility and range.
I believe that Breanna has the potential to win American Idol season 23 because she sang so many songs by strong female artists, including winners Kelly and Carrie, and she did them justice. I think that Breanna can sing any genre, and I'm always happy to see her taking risks with her song choices. I feel that if Breanna continues doing what she does best during the finale, then she'll earn the votes to win the whole competition.
Breanna Has Stayed True To Herself
Breanna Proudly Celebrates Her Faith Through Her Music
Although Breanna can sing anything, she's made a point to stay true to herself throughout the competition, and, whenever possible, celebrate her faith through her music. Although some of the themes didn't fully allow her to do this, Breanna always tried her best to choose songs that reflected her true self.
During the American Idol season 23 Head-to-Head round, Carrie told Breanna and Rylie that she was proud of them for expressing their faith on stage during their duet of "Gratitude" because she knew how difficult it was for singers to come into the entertainment industry and bring their faith with them. She became emotional as she told them that it was a brave thing to do because there were a lot of outside forces that would tell them not to do that.
However, I believe that Breanna will win American Idol season 23 because she's stayed true to her faith, and people who relate to that will vote for her. Even if people aren't religious, I think that they might her because they respect that she knows who she is and what she believes in.
Breanna Has A Relatable Story
Breanna Has Opened Up About Her Life
I believe that another reason that Breanna will win American Idol season 23 is because she has a very relatable story. During her audition package, Breanna shared that she was overweight her whole life, and she was over 315 pounds right after she gave birth to her son, Emerson. She realized that her lifestyle wasn't going to work, and she decided to lose weight, which led her to a journey of self-love. Breanna stated that she tried out for American Idol because she wanted Emerson to know that anything is possible.

I Saw Miranda Lambert In Concert & My Experience Confirms The Type Of Mentor She'll Be On American Idol Season 23
American Idol S23 will welcome country music superstar Miranda Lambert as a mentor, and my concert experiences confirm how she'll perform in the role.
In addition, during her Hawaii Week performance package, Breanna was shown telling her mentors, Jelly Roll and Ashanti, that, in high school, she dealt with a lot of rejection, and not feeling like she was anything. Because of this, she turned to a lot of drinking and trying to run away. Breanna thought that she was way too far gone, but she was able to survive, and she hoped that her story could show others that there's a way out if they're going through something similar.
I believe that Breanna's vulnerability is what makes her relatable to others. She's not afraid to show the cracks in her armor, which is a very appealing quality. She doesn't pretend to be perfect. Breanna is not only singing to help herself, but also to show others that they can get through whatever challenges they're facing in life, which is very irable. I think that people will vote for Breanna because she's such an inspiration.
Breanna Has Shown Growth Throughout American Idol Season 23
Breanna Has Become More Confident Throughout The Competition
When Breanna auditioned for American Idol season 23, she described herself by saying, "I'm just a stay-at-home mom." Carrie replied, "Never say, 'I'm just a stay-at-home mom,'" and told her that she has the most important job as she held Breanna's son, Emerson, while Breanna sang her song. As Breanna has moved through the competition, it's been beautiful to see how she's gained confidence and belief in herself. With the of her husband, Austin, who played the piano for her at her audition, and Emerson, she's reaching for the stars.
I think that Breanna has shown so much growth since she first started on the show. She's transformed from someone with a great voice into a full-blown superstar, and she now believes that she's capable of anything. It's been an honor to see her blossom from her first audition of "Jesus, Take the Wheel" to her latest performance of "You'll Be in My Heart." I believe that Breanna will win American Idol season 23 because she's been shining so brightly.
Breanna is a spectacular vocalist who's proven that she has what it takes to win American Idol season 23. I've loved watching her come into her own during the competition. I think that she has the potential to have a very successful music career after the show. I believe that Breanna deserves to win, and that she'll become the next American Idol.
The American Idol season 23 finale airs Sunday, May 18 at 8 p.m. EDT.
