A new trailer for Alien: Earth prequel TV show focuses on a space vessel crash-landing on Earth, with the team assigned to investigate it discovering that a Xenomorph has made its way aboard. The show was created by Noah Hawley, best known for his work on FX's Fargo. The cast consists Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, and Samuel Blenkin in major roles, alongside many others.

Now, FX Networks has released a new trailer for Alien: Earth, offering more details about the series. The trailer reveals the space vessel the USCSS Maginot crash-lands in a city, with a team of synthetics being sent to investigate. This includes a child named Wendy (Chandler), whose consciousness has been transferred to an adult synthetic body. It's soon revealed at least five extraterrestrial subjects were aborad the ship, including at least one Xenomorph.

However, the trailer hints at even more alien creatures, which seemingly have a psychic impact on Wendy. Additional footage shows synthetics and humans alike being terrorized by the alien threats now on Earth, including plenty of quick glimpses at the Xenomorph. The trailer ends by confirming the series' premiere date of Tuesday, August 12. Check out the full trailer below:

The full-length trailer for Alien: Earth shows how much the series is pulling from the Alien movies while maintaining an original story. While the Xenomorphs are going to be one core threat of the show, they're only one of potentially five different types of extraterrestrial organisms that are now roaming free on Earth. This includes a jellyfish-like creature seen in the trailer, alongside an egg-like structure. While this could be where a Facehugger is being housed, it might also be a completely new monster unique to the series.

Alien: Earth is about to bring the Xenomorph terror to humanity's doorstep, but the show's most intriguing creatures may have been developed on Earth.

The core of the team first introduced appear to be synthetics, with the show likely having a core focus on how Wendy was able to transfer her consciousness into an artificial body. However, the threat to humanity is also present given the number of people shown to be in danger during the trailer. While soldiers appear to be hunting for creatures in the surrounding areas of the crash site, Alien: Earth's monsters will be formidable additions, reminiscent of new alien creatures seen in 2012's Prometheus.

Our Take On Alien: Earth's Full-Length Trailer

Earth Is In More Danger Than Ever Before

Alien: Earth takes place prior to the events of the original movie on the Alien timeline, making this the first time Earth has connected with Xenomorphs in a direct capacity. It seems like the series is going to be continuing its expansion by adding further context to Weyland-Yutani's mission with alien creatures, expanding the series' capacity to explore extraterrestrial threats in the process. With the series teasing plenty of big threats ahead, it's only a matter of time before the extent of how in danger the planet is becomes clear.

Alien: Earth premieres Tuesday, August 12 on FX and FX on Hulu.
