The Skarsgård family is really having a moment in February 2024. After an endless lineup of impressive performances in films like Breaking the Waves or the original Insomnia, Stellan Skarsgård moved into Hollywood movies around the late '90s. Often cast as a villain, he would nevertheless steal the show in projects like Ronin, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and both versions of The Exorcist prequel. Little did audiences know his many children would soon follow in his footsteps.
Of Stellan Skarsgård's eight children, six have become actors themselves; this includes Gustaf - best known as Vikings' Floki - or young Ossian Skarsgård, who appeared in Swedish drama Burn All My Letters. Alexander Skarsgård and younger brother Bill are the best known of Stellan's acting offspring, with both becoming lead men in their own right.
The Skarsgård clan is rarely hurting for work, but February 2024 has been an especially busy month for Stellan, Bill and Alexander. All three have either had major projects released or big announcements about movies have been revealed.

While it had previously been confirmed that Alexander Skarsgård would guest star on Amazon's Mr. & Mrs. Smith, it was still a surprise to see him appear in the very first scene. This sequence follows Skarsgård's "Other John" and spouse Jane (Eiza Gonzalez) as they chill out at home - only for armed tresers to spoil the peace. The couple soon arm themselves, but Skarsgård's John quickly gets shot dead and Jane meets the same fate.
Other notable Mr. & Mrs. Smith guest stars include Paul Dano, John Turturro and Sarah Paulson.
Skarsgård's death in Mr. & Mrs. Smith repeated an old horror trick, where casting a famous face only to quickly kill them raises the stakes for the other characters. Skarsgård and Gonzalez's cameos help set up the deadly world of the show, with the ominous opening predicting the future for Donald Glover and Maya Erskine's John and Jane in later episodes.

Skarsgård appears to be reinventing himself as an action hero with his next two projects, both of which got big announcements in February.
Bill Skarsgård became an instant star thanks to his turn as Pennywise in both IT movies. While this could have permanently typecast him in horror roles, the star has been more strategic with his choices, including a flashy villain role in John Wick: Chapter 4. Skarsgård appears to be reinventing himself as an action hero with his next two projects, both of which got big announcements in February. First up is that the long-gestating remake of The Crow - where Bill plays the titular avenger - will arrive in June 2024.
The Crow replaces John Wick spinoff Ballerina, which moved from June 2024 to summer 2025 instead; this was to allow additional action sequences to be filmed. The remake itself has had a tortured road to the big screen, with actors such as Bradley Cooper, Jason Momoa and - ironically enough - Alexander Skarsgård all circling The Crow at different points. Being moved into a high-profile release date is a sign that Lionsgate has high confidence about their reboot. Skarsgård will also front the remake of vampire classic Nosferatu.
Also dropping in February was a new trailer for Bill Skarsgård's Boy Kills World, which arrives in April 2024. This energetic action romp casts Bill as a deaf/mute killer seeking revenge on the people who murdered his family. The role features a complete transformation for the actor, with Bill getting completely ripped for it. Like The Crow, Boy Kills World holds the potential to make Bill Skarsgård a more traditional leading man, though time will tell how they fare with audiences.
Stellan Skarsgård's Dune 2 Has Great Reviews & Massive Amounts Of Hype
Dune 2 is already shaping up to be the sci-fi movie of 2024
Rounding out a stellar month for the Skarsgårds is Dune: Part Two, where Stellan Skarsgård reprises his role as the terrifying Baron Harkonnen. The original arrived in 2021 and adapted the first half of Frank Herbert's epic sci-fi tome, with Part Two rounding out the story. Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part One received great reviews and was a genuine box office hit, but the sequel seems to sur it in just about every way.

Why Dune 2's Rotten Tomatoes Score Is So Much Higher Than The First Movie
Dune: Part Two is receiving rave reviews from critics, and its Rotten Tomatoes score reflects how much they liked it compared to the first movie.
Dune: Part Two has received critical acclaim, and is even more anticipated than the first half was. The sequel is already the sci-fi film to beat in 2024 and looks set to become a major success.
Villeneuve is already talking up a potential adaption of Herbert's Dune Messiah, which now feels like a given. Stellan Skarsgård's Baron doesn't appear in the sequel book, though that doesn't necessarily rule out an appearance from the actor - or another member of the Skarsgård family.
