All Elite Wrestling history. Whenever the two tag teams met, they made their case for being the best unit in professional wrestling. Whenever FTR and The Young Bucks clashed in the ring, magic followed. Yet there's still a feeling that the two teams had a tremendous amount of unfinished business, as Matt and Nick Jackson never feuded with Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler over the AEW tag-team championships. Fans online have long speculated that backstage politics played a role in Tony Khan never pursuing this would-be money angle.
Despite that speculation, Harwood recently spoke about The Young Bucks and their place as one of the best tag teams of all time. Via his The Young Bucks on there. I would have them right up there because they have defined a generation of tag team wrestling. They also completely changed a style of tag team wrestling too." Dax goes on to explain that how Matt and Nick Jackson perform isn't his "forte," but also said that he couldn't physically do a lot of what The Young Bucks can. "All the differences that we may have had in the past from 2016 through 2022, I can't take away the fact that they should be on a Mount Rushmore of tag team wrestling." No Matter The Reason, AEW Dropped The Ball On FTR Vs. Young Bucks
There was a brief moment in time when Young Bucks Vs. FTR would have been the hottest program in all of professional wrestling. Dax and Cash caught fire during the build-up to RDeath Before Dishonor, organically shifting from heels to faces as fans slowly began to them. Hardwood's "fight like a girl" promo is one of the best in company history, and seemingly every other promotion besides AEW wanted FTR to be their tag-team champions.
A feud and subsequent match with all that gold on the line would have been extraordinary. A landmark moment for AEW and tag-team wrestling in general as FTR and The Young Bucks went to war over multiple titles. Numerous situations unfolded that prevented this from happening, however. The Elite turned face before the trios championships were unveiled. Some fans felt this was a way for Matt and Nick to duck Dax and Cash.
Like with most things, the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Whether FTR or The Young Bucks lost that winner-take-all match, they would have taken a hit to their legacy. It would have provided fans with some outstanding drama. Still, that bout is just another thing to add to AEW's lengthy list of missed opportunities in 2022. Regardless of the differences the two teams have had, it's still good to hear that Harwood can appreciate what The Young Bucks have managed to accomplish as pro wrestlers.
