Netflix K-drama series was released in four chunks for a total of 16 episodes but is only planned to be a limited series, despite doing well viewership-wise.

K-dramas are also gradually becoming popular in the United States over the last few years. This is heavily aided by the Netflix series Squid Game, which became a record-breaking global sensation upon its release in 2021. The show, unlike a typical K-drama miniseries, will last multiple seasons, wrapping up with Squid Game season 3 later this summer. Netflix has since added numerous Korean-language titles, including movies and TV shows. However, one of Disney+'s K-drama series has been renewed for season 2.

The renewal of A Shop for Killers is another great sign for the international success of K-dramas. According to recent data, Korean content is the second most popular category on Netflix, falling behind only United States-produced shows. This solidifies Korea as a major content producer and its ability to appeal to a wide variety of audiences. A Shop for Killers could ride this K-drama wave to its advantage, appealing to existing audiences of Korean-language content while extending to a second season like American shows typically do.
