Team GO Rocket Leader Sierra is back in Crown Clash: Taken Over.

While you can participate in the GO Battle League against other real-life trainers, you can also take on AI opponents as you do battle with the dangerous Team GO Rocket. Sierra has a strong line-up featuring seven Shadow Pokémon, of which three will be used in each battle. Due to the strength and variety of the Pokémon Sierra can use in Pokémon GO, it's vital to know her line-up and the best options to counter them.

Sierra's Team & Counters In Pokémon GO (June 2025)

Common Weaknesses Help Trainers

Sierra's Team has received a big overhaul from May 2025, with four new additions to her possible Pokémon, including a new lead. She will always start with Ground-type Trapinch. This will then be followed by two Pokémon at random for her second and third choices. Her middle Pokémon will be one of Normal- and Flying-type Staraptor, Ghost-type Mismagius, or Grass- and Steel-type Ferrothorn. Sierra's final Pokémon will again be picked at random out of Fire- and Ground-type Camerupt, Poison- and Dark-type Drapion, or Dark- and Fire-type Houndoom.

Despite having a wide range of types which appear to make it hard to cover, one Pokémon can dominate four of Sierra's Team, Swampert. The Water- and Ground-type can be set up with both types of move, making it super-effective against Trapinch and all of Sierra's potential final Pokémon.

All Ditto Disguises In Pokémon GO (June 2025)

Ditto remains one of the hardest Pokémon to capture in Pokémon GO, but you can use three items this month to increase your chances of finding one.

Dual-type Pokémon continue to be key to defeating Sierra with Terrakion. The Legendary Rock- and Fighting-type again provides great coverage, being super-effective against Staraptor, Ferrothorn, and Houndoom. The above two Pokémon only leave Mismagius not being covered, so it is best to select a strong Dark-type just for this that is also powerful enough to help against other Pokémon. As is often the case, Tyranitar is one of the best possible Dark-type Pokémon to use. Its Rock-type attacks can also Terrakion if needed.

Rewards For Beating Sierra In Pokémon GO

A Host Of Bonuses For Each Victory

You will immediately encounter a Shadow Trapinch after defeating Sierra in June 2025. It is worth capturing it, as its final evolution stage, Shadow Flygon, is a dangerous Dragon- and Ground-type Pokémon. Being in its Shadow form also further increases its strength.

Each time you beat Sierra this month, you will gain an encounter with Trapinch, giving you further opportunities to add more of its candies.

Beating one of the three Leaders, including Sierra, is the only way you can earn the rare 12km red eggs. This will be added to your items as long as you have room in your egg storage. On top of the egg, you can receive further in-game items chosen at random, such as Max Revives.

Finally, if you want to face GO Boss Giovanni this month in Pokémon GO, defeating Sierra is one of the required steps to set up the difficult encounter. Sierra's Team may have changed for June 2025 in Pokémon GO, but it should pose little problems for trainers as long as you set up with the right counters.
