Matt Murdock has had many impressive moments in his Netflix's Defenders Saga was confirmed to be canon to the MCU, meaning Daredevil's MCU history is even richer than first thought.

Daredevil: Born Again

2025

Charlie Cox is set to reprise the role of Matt Murdock's Daredevil in 2025's Daredevil: Born Again, which will act as a continuation of his Netflix series. Born Again will pick up five years after Daredevil season 3's finale, so it's unclear how much of his time in the MCU's Multiverse Saga will be addressed. Daredevil: Born Again is one of the MCU's most highly-anticipated Phase 5 projects, so there is pressure for the Man Without Fear to deliver some intense and impressive moments. If Daredevil's MCU history is anything to go by, this won't be a problem.

10 Daredevil & Kingpin Fight For The First Time

Daredevil Season 1, Episode 13, “Daredevil”

There are many moments in Netflix's Daredevil season 1 that could be seen to be some of Matt Murdock's best scenes, but the final fight between Daredevil and Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk in the season finale, "Daredevil," was remarkable. This marked the first time Murdock was seen in his now-iconic first Daredevil suit, earning him his vigilante moniker, and this armor certainly proved helpful when battling Fisk in hand-to-hand combat. This fight saw both Murdock and Fisk put their best foot forward, leaving the viewer guessing about who would come out victorious.

Of course, Daredevil won the day, allowing Fisk to be imprisoned for his crimes, but this was far from the end of their greater war. This battle was intense, powerful and a complete show of strength for both hero and villain, which was exactly what audiences had been waiting for throughout the season. It's exciting to think about how Daredevil and Kingpin's relationship will develop in Daredevil: Born Again, especially now the latter is running to be elected Mayor of New York. It's possible there will be a repeat of this iconic battle from Daredevil season 1.

9 Matt Murdock Catches A Brick

Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)

Charlie Cox's career as Matt Murdock seemed to be over after the cancelation of Netflix's Defenders Saga and the establishment of official MCU-set TV shows on Disney+. This meant it was an even more pleasant and shocking surprise when Cox returned as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, appearing as Peter Parker's lawyer in the wake of his identity being revealed to the world and him being framed for Mysterio's death and the attack on London. Although he didn't suit up as Daredevil, Matt Murdock did get a chance to show off his power.

No Way Home Slyly Showed Matt Murdock Is More Powerful Than Spider-Man

Spider-Man: No Way Home featured a Matt Murdock brick catch, and the scene reveals how he may be more powerful than Spider-Man.

Both Matt Murdock and Tom Holland's Peter Parker used their super-fast reflexes to reach for a brick thrown through Parker's window, which stated, "We Beleive Mysterio," with an annoying typo. It was Murdock who caught the brick, however, with him not being very subtle about showing off his superhuman senses to Parker, Aunt May and Happy Hogan. This could prove important in the Spider-Man 4, as Peter Parker may reconnect with his superpowered lawyer after being forgotten by the world.

8 Elektra Manipulates Matt Murdock Into Beating Up Sweeney

Daredevil Season 2, Episode 5, “Kinbaku”

Daredevil season 2 introduced Élodie Yung as Elektra Natchios, a mysterious fighter with a connection to Matt Murdock's past. This connection was explored in Daredevil season 2, episode 5, "Kinbaku," which saw Elektra and Murdock meet, with the former trying to manipulate the latter into reing their mentor, Stick, and his war against the Hand. Part of this initiation involved Elektra apprehending Roscoe Sweeney, who had been the cause of Murdock's father's demise, and getting Murdock to beat him up and perhaps even kill him, though Murdock refused.

Jennifer Garner recently returned in Deadpool & Wolverine as her version of Elektra Natchios from 2003's Daredevil and 2005's Elektra movies.

For a moment, it seemed as though Matt Murdock might finish the job, giving Elektra exactly what she wanted. He stayed true to himself, however, but this scene was packed full of raw emotion, particularly seen in the chemistry between Cox and Yung, and even more evident while Murdock was giving Sweeney what he deserved. Èlodie Yung has expressed interest in returning as Elektra, and this could happen as early as Daredevil: Born Again, which would likely see her return to throw another spanner in Matt Murdock's life after the events of Daredevil and The Defenders.

7 Daredevil Fights Maya Lopez

Echo Episode 1, “Chafa”

Daredevil's cameo appearance in Echo episode 1, "Chafa," showed exactly how Marvel Studios should use cameos going forward. Charlie Cox appeared in a few-minute-long sequence, most of which was filmed as one take, which saw Daredevil fighting Maya Lopez in 2018, during the time that she was working for her surrogate uncle, Wilson Fisk. This scene gave Daredevil the chance to show off more of his new MCU athleticism, while also providing Maya Lopez with the chance to prove her own skill, as she was an even match for the Man Without Fear.

While Kingpin sends Echo to battle Daredevil in Marvel Comics, Maya Lopez actually ends up falling in love with Matt Murdock. Daredevil's appearance in Echo may have teased the very beginning of this evolution for these characters in the MCU, so it's very possible that Alaqua Cox could reprise her MCU role in Daredevil: Born Again. This could mark a repetition of this brilliant spar between the two disabled but powerful MCU heroes, expanding their connection and further fleshing out the street-level stories of the MCU.

6 Daredevil Debates Morality With The Punisher

Daredevil Season 2, Episode 3, “New York’s Finest”

Another Daredevil character set to return to the MCU in Daredevil: Born Again is Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle, a.k.a. the Punisher, who first appeared in Daredevil season 2. Castle shot Daredevil in the head in season 2's premiere, though he was thankfully saved by his helmet, and this didn't deter him from chasing down Castle again. In episode 3, "New York's Finest," Daredevil finds himself a captive of the Punisher, but instead of harming him, Castle engages the Devil of Hell's Kitchen in a discussion about their differing methods of doing the same thing.

Jon Bernthal's Punisher is officially coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he might be a bit different when he finally returns.

This conversation is incredibly poignant, as both realize they are two sides of the same coin. Daredevil locks up bad guys, while the Punisher kills them, and this discussion gives them both an opportunity to argue their case. They come away from it with mutual respect, especially after battling through the Dogs of Hell together at the end of this episode in a brilliant long-take scene. It was a great choice to show off Frank Castle's humanity first and foremost, and to see Matt Murdock struggle with wondering whether he's right, and this may be repeated in Daredevil: Born Again.

5 She-Hulk & Daredevil Save Luke Jacobson Together

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode 8, “Ribbit & Rip It”

Following his return to the MCU in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it was brilliant to see Matt Murdock suit up as Daredevil in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. In the 2022 series, Murdock sported a brand-new yellow-and-red costume that took inspiration from his very first outfit in Marvel Comics, which was a fantastic call-back. This also saw Daredevil partner up with Tatiana Maslany's Jennifer Walters, a.k.a. She-Hulk, with the pair fighting through Leapfrog's goons to save their captive fashion designer - which seems like a storyline ripped straight out of Marvel Comics.

Matt Murdock has had a number of love interests in his MCU history, including Elektra Natchios, Claire Temple, Karen Page and Jennifer Walters, while Daredevil: Born Again is expected to debut another in the form of Margarita Levieva's Heather Glenn.

This fight culminated in She-Hulk and Daredevil engaging in some steamy extracurricular activities, which was a hilarious development in both of their stories in the MCU. It would be great for this to be addressed in Daredevil: Born Again, perhaps even with a cameo from Jennifer Walters' She-Hulk, who may be visiting New York to reconnect with Murdock. Whatever the future holds for their relationship, it was great to see Daredevil back in action in the MCU, four years after he'd last been seen in full costume.

4 Daredevil Fights Bullseye At Clinton Church

Daredevil Season 3, Episode 10, “Karen”

Daredevil season 3 was certainly the most dramatic and intense chapter in Matt Murdock's life so far, as Kingpin set psychopathic FBI agent Benjamin Poindexter out to defame the Man Without Fear. Poindexter masqueraded as Daredevil and committed some heinous crimes, leading to a duel between Wilson Bethel's villain and the Devil of Hell's Kitchen at the Clinton Church. This exhilarating and memorable battle tragically began with the brutal murder of Father Lantom, and culminated in both Murdock and Poindexter being injured.

It's the striking visuals of this battle that make it even more powerful, as the entire scene is doused in a red light that enhances every nook and cranny of the Clinton Church while barely illuminating Daredevil and Bullseye. What's even more exciting is that this battle may be addressed directly in Daredevil: Born Again, as Wilson Bethel is returning as Bullseye after Daredevil season 3 teased his enhancements. The duel at the Clinton Church is one of the best moments in the entire Daredevil series, and will be hard for any scene in Daredevil: Born Again to match.

3 Matt Murdock Discusses Daredevil With Foggy Nelson

Daredevil Season 1, Episode 10, “Nelson V. Murdock”

Most of Matt Murdock's best scenes have included moments of heated action while he's been operating as Daredevil, but this scene was the complete opposite. After becoming seriously injured during his battle with Nobu, Matt Murdock reveals his hidden identity to his best friend and business partner, Elden Henson's Franklin "Foggy" Nelson. This leads to an episode-long discussion between Nelson and Murdock that contributes to one of the strongest episodes of the Daredevil series, as it's stripped-back, but gives the viewer important backstory and pushes the present day story forward massively.

Daredevil: Born Again will be returning the most prominent characters from Netflix's Daredevil, including Kingpin, Bullseye, Foggy and Karen.

This could have easily marked the end of the friendship between Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson, but, while they went through ups and downs after the truth was revealed, the pair are now stronger than ever. Murdock revealing his secret identity to Karen Page at the end of Daredevil season 2 didn't quite pack the same emotional punch, as there is a great deal more history between Murdock and Nelson. It will be great to see Henson and Deborah Ann Woll return as Nelson and Page in Daredevil: Born Again, perhaps leading to some similarly-emotional scenes such as this.

2 Daredevil Survives Midland Circle

The Defenders Episode 8, “The Defenders”

Matt Murdock's Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand's Iron Fist came together in The Defenders as a reluctant superhero team, brought together by their connections to the Hand. Their investigation of the ancient organization leads them into battle against the Hand's new leader and the Black Sky, the resurrected Elektra Natchios, among the dragon bones in the caves underneath the Midland Circle building. When most of the Hand's soldiers are eliminated, Murdock sends the others to safety to stay behind and try to get through to his former love.

Matt Murdock and Elektra are together as explosives destroy Midland Circle, leaving Murdock presumed dead by the other Defenders and the rest of the world. It was a great relief when Murdock was revealed to still be alive, and this raised hopes that Elektra could have also survived, while other of the Hand could have, too. This could set up a strong story for Daredevil: Born Again, though Daredevil season 3 seemed to forget all about the Hand. Murdock's survival and recovery proves just how strong he is, which teases more powerful events in Born Again.

1 Matt Murdock Escapes Prison

Daredevil Season 3, Episode 4, “Blindsided”

In Netflix's Defenders Saga, Daredevil became famous for producing long-take fight scenes, which were all incredible and put Matt Murdock's impressive skillset on full display. While season 1's hallway fight against the Russians was exhilarating, and season 2's Dogs of Hell stairway battle was intense, season 3 took the top spot. Clocking in at a whopping 11 minutes with no cuts, Matt Murdock's escape from prison after speaking to Jasper Evans, who had information on Wilson Fisk, was remarkable and worthy of being seen on the big-screen rather than simply on Netflix.

10 Most Terrifying Kingpin Scenes That Prove He Can Be The MCU's Next Thanos

Kingpin has been a brutal and terrifying villain since Day 1, and his continued bloody legacy in the MCU only emphasizes how powerful he truly is

Matt Murdock, not in his Daredevil guise, battles prison inmates and corrupt guards with the help of the Albanians, who are also working to bring Wilson Fisk's Kingpin down. The lengthy and exhausting battle ends with Murdock getting into a mysterious cab and being driven off a dock, but he also survives this, allowing him to continue his fight against Kingpin. This entire sequence in Daredevil season 3 set a new and very high standard for Daredevil's stories in the MCU, though it will likely be very hard for any scene in Daredevil: Born Again to have the same impact.
