After sending fans speculating for over a year, Mrs. Flood's companion-inspired wardrobe is a specific nod to her true self's Doctor Who history that connects to the latter half of the classic era. Debuting in 2023's "The Church on Ruby Road," Anita Dobson was seemingly introduced as the good-hearted neighbor to new companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson). However, by the time the episode concluded, fans were stunned as she personally saw Ruby off on her adventures with the Fifteenth Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa), showing she had an understanding of Time Lord secrets with a fourth-wall break. 4e3z1f

As the first companion of Doctor Who's classic era, Susan remains a pivotal figure in the franchise lore. Her status as the Doctor's granddaughter gives her an especially interesting place in the show's canon, so it was great to see her show up again, even if only in the dying mind of Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor.

Varada Sethu's Belinda Chandra had the potential to be one of the best Doctor Who companions of all time, but I don't think the show has ever wasted a companion quite so badly. Doctor Who companions have tended to serve as a sort of "audience surrogate," allowing viewers to enter into the Doctor's world. We all have our favorite companions - but, of course, not every one of them has been treated with the same kind of respect.

I'm on board with Billie Piper playing Doctor Who's Sixteenth Doctor as long as one condition is met. Doctor Who season 15's ending sprang many a surprise, from Jodie Whittaker's cameo to the distinct lack of Carole Ann Ford. By far the biggest twist, however, was Ncuti Gatwa regenerating into Billie Piper. Exactly what Piper's role will be moving forward remains to be seen, as, tellingly, Doctor Who did not credit her character as "the Doctor," suggesting some Bad Wolf-ish shenanigans could be afoot.

First appearing in Doctor Who season 14, episode 6, "Rogue," Groff's character quickly became a new love interest for Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor. They are forced to part very soon after developing feelings for one another, with Rogue now lost in another dimension. He returned in "Wish World" and was vital in bringing the Doctor back to consciousness.

The Pantheon has been explained on Doctor Whoas a race of omnipotent, godlike creatures who leave a trail of destruction in their path. They are incredibly difficult to defeat, especially those at the top of the chain, and enjoy wreaking havoc for their own sake. The revelation that there are many monsters associated with the Pantheon suggests that many of the best Doctor Who stories may have involved these villains, even if it didn't seem like it when they aired.

David Tennant's Tenth Doctor was the star of the show between 2005 and 2009, taking over from Christopher Eccleston's Ninth Doctor and becoming just the second actor to lead Doctor Who's modern era. Tennant's eccentric and charismatic performance as the Doctor quickly immortalized him among the show's fan base, and years later, Doctor Who can't escape him.
