Samantha Riehl earned her villainous reputation when she blindsided Farmer John Sansone by dropping out of the competition, despite being his strongest connection among the contestants. Samantha was always quick to challenge John, drilling him with questions during their initial speed date. John was enticed by Samantha’s feisty attitude, and he granted her a solo date, bringing her to his St. Louis farm for 24 hours before the other contestants arrived. While the two had an undeniable spark, Samantha’s hard-to-get attitude and distaste for farm life made her the season’s obvious villain from day one.

Even with her promising start to the season, Samantha couldn’t shake her anxieties about whether she and John were compatible. During a group barn dance, she watched John with her competitors and grew increasingly overwhelmed. After itting her hesitation to several of the other women, Samantha took John outside and announced her intention to leave the competition. Her decision left John blindsided, and it appeared to confirm suspicions that Samantha had different priorities besides finding a life partner.

Samantha Didn't Try To Make Things Work With John

She Seemed Uninterested In Finding Lasting Love

Samantha’s self-elimination proved that she was completely unwilling to compromise, even if it meant losing out on the potential love of her life. From her first moments with John, Samantha made it clear that it was her way or the highway, even insinuating it would be a problem that he didn’t love sports as she did. Her attitude was always one of interrogation, as if she was interviewing John instead of trying to build an emotional connection.

Samantha itted she wasn't prepared to compromise, which was the biggest sign that she had no intention of putting the necessary work into their relationship.

The red flags became more evident when Samantha spoke about being accustomed to city life. She was unsure whether she could adapt to living in the country, which is the main principle of Farmer Wants A Wife. Samantha itted she wasn't prepared to compromise, which was the biggest sign that she had no intention of putting the necessary work into their relationship. She ultimately gave up on John because they both like being “in the driver’s seat.” If Samantha had really wanted to find love, she would have found a way to open her mind and find a middle ground.

Samantha placed a heavy focus on loyalty and expected John to commit to her soon after meeting. This put him in an impossible position considering he was the subject of a dating show and was still dating a handful of other women. Samantha’s expectations were entirely unrealistic for the environment she was in. It seemed like she was setting John up for failure, and she was looking for an easy out to give her an excuse to leave.

Samantha may have felt a spark with John, but she completely disrespected him by announcing her departure in the middle of a group date. She relayed her concerns to the other women instead of speaking with John first. After breaking the news to John, Samantha then returned to the group, crying and making a scene, despite her departure being entirely her choice. The way she broke up with him put him in an embarrassing position, and it proves how little respect she had for him.

Samantha Riehl Is An Influencer

She May Have Been Motivated By Fame

Samantha’s hesitation towards John suggests she was never in search of true love. Before appearing on Farmer Wants A Wife, Samantha was already a successful influencer. She has hundreds of thousands of followers on social media, where she posts fashion, beauty, and lifestyle content. Samantha’s TikTok alone has over 865K followers, and several of her videos have received millions of views.

Samantha’s television appearance undoubtedly helped grow her social media following, and it’s possible the resulting clout was her motive all along. If Samantha is focused on growing her brand, it makes sense that she would want to find a way to gain more recognition. She may have reasoned that taking on the persona of a villain would make her more memorable, and if she ed the competition and then left early, she could further her career as an influencer with minimal investment.

She may not have had any interest in farm life or getting married at all.

This would explain why Samantha wasn’t ready to make the commitment and sacrifices necessary for a successful relationship. She may not have had any interest in farm life or getting married at all. Samantha has an impressive social media presence, and it's logical that she would want to put her name out there by any means possible. If she was truly motivated by her goal of being an influencer, the show was simply a means to an end.

Samantha Is A Villain On The Show

She Treated John Like He Was Beneath Her

Samantha’s attitude made her stand out as the villain of Farmer Wants A Wife. She presented herself as above the competition, which was insulting to both John and the other women. Rather than trying to win John over, from day one she tried to make him compete for her. As John grew closer to Samantha, she seemed to always have one foot out the door.

Samantha was never invested in John. She itted she entered the competition with the mindset that “if he did not meet my needs and he was not what I needed, I would have no hesitation leaving.” Samantha refused to kiss John because she feared that if they didn’t end up together, her future husband would see her kissing another man on television. This proves that her priorities were never with John.

John itted Samantha had been holding him back, and the other women were relieved to see her go.

Samantha put John at a disadvantage by taking opportunities away from the other women, wasting precious time building their romance when she likely knew all along it wasn’t going to last. After Samantha’s departure, John stated that he could finally start getting to know the other women. But he'd already invested so much time in Samantha, who had dangled something he couldn’t have in front of him. John itted Samantha had been holding him back, and the other women were relieved to see her go.

Samantha humiliated John by stringing him along and then dumping him during a group date. Her blatant villainy and heartless actions make it likely she was never looking for love and simply appeared on Farmer Wants A Wife for her own gain. Fortunately, now that Samantha’s out of the picture, John has a better chance of finding a wife who is truly interested in him, not the ensuing fame that comes with dating him.
