The show has received widespread acclaim.

Extraordinary season 2 Jen looking through stack of books that have been made into a circle

The second installment of Extraordinary picks up where the first left off, with Jen discovering her powers at the clinic. But her life outside of that is also troubled. Her boyfriend Jizzlord (Luke Rollason), previously shapeshifted into a cat for so long that he's forgotten his name, learns something shocking about his past. The other characters, including Kash (Bilal Hasna) and Carrie (Sofia Oxenham), also try to move forward. In the case of Carrie and Kash, that means dealing with an awkward breakup.

The cast of Extraordinary also features Siobhán McSweeney and Robbie Gee in the roles of Mary and Ian, Jen’s mom and stepdad, respectively. New additions to the show include Julian Barrett who plays Jen's power coach. Rosa Robson, meanwhile, plays Nora, an unexpected person from Jizzlord’s past. Kwaku Mills appears as Clark, Carrie’s new work colleague, while two-time Emmy winner Sir Derek Jacobi, has a special cameo role.
