WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for the Bad Monkey season 1 finale.

Neville's curse finally comes full circle in Bad Monkey episode 8 only to give it back to Eve after confronting her in the season 1 finale.

The Bad Monkey episode 7.

Bad Monkey season 2 has not been officially announced by Bill Lawrence or Apple.

Eve’s Decision To Kill Nick Explained

Nick could no longer provide for Eve in his weakened state

In a stunning twist, the sociopathic Eve kills her husband Nick by pushing him into the ocean in a wheelchair, knowing he will drown. After Nick was impaled by a fishing rod in his spine by Neville in episode 9, he was nearly paralyzed from the waist down and only able to wiggle his toes. Eve relied on Nick to do quite literally anything for her throughout Bad Monkey season 1, which is how he ended up losing his left arm in the first place. Eve constantly asks for reassurance that Nick is going to take care of her for the rest of their lives, mostly financially, which he does at the expense of his relationship with his daughter, Caitlin.

Nick seemed like a decent enough guy before Eve got a hold of him and sucked every ounce of comion and consciousness from his body. Even after Eve murdered Heather with the Weather and became increasingly demanding of Nick, Nick still stuck by her side, which in the end, led to his death. Like a textbook sociopath, Eve eliminated Nick from the picture once she discovered she had no further use of him.

Once Eve felt the pressure of having to take care of Nick after all he had done for her, like buying her a yacht, she cut him loose like a fishing line. Nick's character is tragic because he falls victim to his greatest weakness, the girl of his dreams. Little did he know, Eve's dream life never involved Nick besides being a means to the end of getting rich fast.

How Neville’s Curse Caught Up With Eve

Gracie's magic came through in the end

The curse that Neville had set up through Gracie comes to fruition in the Bad Monkey season 1 finale. Even after Gracie returns as the Dragon Queen at the beginning of episode 10, she is unable to escape the revengeful storm that she herself created. Gracie reveals to Ya-Ya in her afterlife that she had lost her way and that the magic had been very real this entire time.

Despite Yancy's best efforts, Eve appeared to have gotten away and might have been the main villain of Bad Monkey season 2 until she "chokes on her lies" as Gracie had prophesied, or more specifically, a carrot. Eve's abrupt death alone in Portugal proves that Gracie's magic held a more powerful hand of justice than Yancy's gun and badge ever did.

Why Egg Could See Gracie After Her Death

Egg and Gracie had a true soul connection

Egg's biggest motivation throughout Bad Monkey season 1 is money, which is why he works for Eve and Nick in the first place. He doesn't think too hard about the morality of his job as long as he's getting properly paid for it. This would make it seem like Egg is a bad, even soulless person, but Gracie opened up a side of him that made him more human and at times likable. Egg would sing for Gracie and was starting to truly care for her when she told him she was leaving Andros. It seems that Egg is not even aware that Gracie is dead during their final conversation in Bad Monkey season 1. The fact that she can perceive and communicate with Gracie proves that he does have a soul deep within his rough exterior.

How Eve Flipped Yancy’s Trap Against Him

Before Eve meets her fate at the end of Bad Monkey episode 10, she is able to trick Yancy by paying off the Mayor and local law enforcement, which completely flipped Yancy's plan to trap Eve on its head. He asked Director Rhodes, a federal agent, to stage a call to Eve that her bank s had been frozen, which would prompt her to go to the local bank where Yancy and Neville would be waiting for her.

Yancy successfully baits Eve, who has her own tricks up her sleeve as the local Mayor and police close in. This inspires Neville to once again save Yancy as the two steal a cop car and escape. The overarching theme is that nothing could ever stop Eve other than Gracie's magic and fate.

Are Rosa & Yancy Back Together?

Bad Monkey leaves the door ambiguously open

Rosa (Natalie Martinez) visits Yancy after their fight in Bad Monkey Season 1 Episode 10

Rosa comes back around to visit Yancy at the end of Bad Monkey episode 10. The two become intimate and Rosa is still very clearly interested in Yancy but also still upset that he didn't leave Andros with her when she asked him to. A part of Rosa understands Yancy's decision but ultimately, Yancy staying behind didn't solve anything and only put him and Neville in further danger. The door is certainly still open between Rosa and Yancy and the series seems to leave it intentionally ambiguous in case Rosa doesn't return in the expected season 2 for whatever reason. There is also the unlikely reemergence of Bonnie, who is once again a fugitive evading the law and still and Yancy's number on speed dial.

The Real Meaning Of Yancy "Letting Go"

Yancy has to swallow his pride for his own sake

As Yancy holds on desperately to a rope off the back of Eve's yacht, a montage of characters telling him to let go, including Rosa and Ro, plays over the scene. Yancy hangs on to the rope determined to end this himself but realizes in a moment of clarity that he simply can't do it. Yancy surrenders and finally gives up his pursuit of Eve, likely because he doesn't even know why he's chasing them anymore when he has so much to lose.

Yancy is forbidden by his superiors to pursue Nick and Eve but does it anyway, once again jeopardizing his status at work. He also nearly loses Rosa because he has never been able to let go of anything, which sounds like a matter of pride. Jim's words of wisdom from Bad Monkey episode 8 finally hit home with Yancy when he said, "Don't hang onto something you think you need and lose the stuff that really matters." Of course, Yancy goes back to his same old tricks when Ro shows up with something in his car in Bad Monkey season 1's final scene.

What Will Happen In Bad Monkey Season 2?

Season 2 would adapt the 2016 novel Razor Girl

With Nick and Eve confirmed dead at the end of Bad Monkey season 1, it appears that there will be a new main villain in a potential Bad Monkey season 2. It's also unlikely that Caitlin has any real reason to return unless Yancy decides to check in on her periodically following the death of her father. Claspers, who had a more integral role in the latter half of the season, could be involved in season 2, while Rosa's sister Mel never really established an arc that warrants her return in season 2. Now that Bonnie is once again at large, and Michelle Monaghan is one of the series' main pulls, her character is likely to return, as well as Rosa, Neville, Rogelio, Egg, and the narrator, Tom Nowicki.

Bad Monkey season 2 would adapt the 2016 novel Razor Girl, the sequel to Bad Monkey written by Carl Hiaasen. The only official recurring characters in the Razor Girl novel are Yancy, Rosa, Rogelio, and Sheriff Sonny Summers, but since it is a television adaptation, Bill Lawrence may want to include some of the season 1 favorites such as Bonnie, or Plover, and Gracie, or the Dragon Queen, as a ghost. Based on Razor Girl, new characters in Bad Monkey season 2 would include con artist Merry Mansfield and an LA talent manager Lane Coolman. At this point, it's unclear how true-to-source Bad Monkey season 2 would be following the full circle season 1 finale.
